6. Castro and pazo de Trasouteiro

Virgen de la Concepción chapel

The fort is located on a small hill between Trasouteiro and Sansobre on the eastern side of the Vimianzo valley (+43° 6' 20" -9° 1' 38 ").

Upon arrival, you will see a wall with an external ditch on the eastern side, used as a protection measure. At the moment it is a “virgin” fort because it has not yet been the object of any archaeological activity.

In Trasouteiro you can find the pazo and the chapel devoted to the image of the Virxe da Concepción (Virgin of the Immaculate Conception).

It is an architectural complex complete with two outbuildings, formerly the old Piarist schools. Trasouteiro is the only place that worships the friar Diego de Cádiz, nephew of the founder of the pazo. Every third weekend in March residents celebrate a verbena around the chapel dedicated to him, and on Saturday they organize a gravity race called baixada de carrilanas.
